A holistic protocol to treat uterine fibroids. It helped me resolve my fibroids problem and improve my overall health.
Treat Uterine Fibroids – My Healing Journey

I was extremely tired throughout the day and experiencing an excessive amount of blood loss during my menstrual cycle. So I decided to go to the doctor for help. After examination, the health care practitioner informed me that I was extremely anaemic. She said that I had large fibroids that needed to be removed. She was insistent that I needed to get booked in for surgery as soon as possible. But to me that area of my body needed to be healed and nurtured, not injured by the stabs of a knife.
My mother had experienced the same problem years ago. I remembered a friend telling her about nutritional supports that could assist the body’s power to heal from uterine fibroids naturally. This motivated me to do my own research. I wanted to find a more holistic way to treat my uterine fibroids.
I did accept a course of iron injections from the doctor. This helped me quickly begin to resolve the anaemia problem. However, I knew that if I wanted to get to the root of the problem and not just manage symptoms, I would need to take a more holistic approach.
Naturopath Helps Me Treat My Fibroid Issues
So I visited a reputable naturopath in my area who had helped me with other health issues in the past. She was such an empathetic woman and gave me wonderful guidance and support. I greatly value an excellent booklet she gave me. It gave simple yet profound information on proper diet, exercise, and stress management. She really encouraged me to up my intake of raw plant foods…encouraging me to eat one large salad daily. I began to clean up my diet, exercise daily, and take more time to destress.

As a result, my menstrual problems resolved and I never became anaemic again. Achieving and being able to easily maintain a more healthy weight was an added bonus.
My Protocol to Heal from Fibroids
From the beginning I spent several days eating very light meals and fasting with water and vegetable juices. This definitely helped to jumpstart the healing process. Drinking more water is key to healing many health conditions. The body’s ability to heal and rejuvenate is decreased when we allow ourselves to become dehydrated. Check out this article about why drinking water is so important. This is especially true when we have not been eating the optimal amount of raw living foods.
A large percentage of the plant-based food I was eating were raw. I believe this was a very important aspect of this protocol. Raw foods provide much needed fiber and nutrients that the body needs to be nourished and heal. They are living foods, alive with so many nutrients, minerals and vitamins our body needs at all times, but even more so when we are sick.
Additionally, most raw foods are easier for the body to assimilate. Therefore the body can spend less time on digestion and more time on healing. This is what I found in my research. This is what worked for me.
Diet to Treat Uterine Fibroids – What I Ate in a Day

I would enjoy a big bowl of grapes, watermelons, pears, or a fruit salad each morning after my exercise. The higher the water content of the fruit the better. I needed lots of hydration for healing and to help cleanse the excess waste of the uterine fibroids from my body.
For lunch, a large raw salad was the best option. I included a wide variety of vegetables. My daily salad would include lots of leafy greens , plenty of raw cruciferous vegetables balanced nicely with a variety of brightly coloured vegetables. The minerals and vitamins in these large daily salads helped me to feel amazingly nourished. I didn’t know it then, but all of these foods have the nutritious building blocks of healthy carbohydrates, plant proteins, and whole fats. Each and every plant has all those components to one degree or another. When eaten on a regular basis they really do help the body rebuild and rejuvenate. I felt much stronger and satisfied eating this way.

When I was at my weakest, I did a very intense juice fast for several days. I would have some type of veggie juice every few hours during the day. I would alternate between drinking a root veggie juice with drinking a leafy green juice. Between juice meals I drank plenty of water. Check out this article: How to Drink Water – 5 Basic Tips + Bonus Tip. It discusses the importance of drinking water each day and how to drink it for greatest benefit.
Buy Organic if You Can
One thing to consider when trying to nourish the body with healthy fruits and vegetables – organic is usually best. One reason for this is that plants grown organically often have much higher concentrations of minerals and vitamins than plants that are not. That is one reason why greens grown organically have a much stronger flavour. That’s the taste of rich nutritious minerals the body craves and needs in order to heal from any health issue, including uterine fibroids.
And of course a big reason to eat organic produce is that by doing so we may reduce our exposure to the hazardous toxins found on non-organic plants. Non-organic plants are often grown using the standard fertilizers and pesticides. These toxic chemicals are proven hormone disrupters, which is a big concern when trying to treat uterine fibroids. So if you can find organic produce in your area and afford it, go for that as an option. If that’s not an option for you at this time just do your best with what you have. You will fare better than if you don’t try at all. Just be sure to wash the vegetables as best you can with a good vegetable and fruit cleaning product. You can find recipes online for making your own vegetable/fruit cleansers with simple ingredients from your own pantry.

Of course the best option of all is to grow your own organic fruit and vegetable garden if possible. The satisfaction and nourishment you can receive from such an endeavor is healing in itself.
I grew some of my juicing and salad vegetables when I was healing from the fibroids. Caring for my little garden patch added to the healing experience. It was good exercise. And I enjoyed getting out in the sun and in the garden. Hours can just fly by when I am working in the garden. I thought less about the issues of what ailments I was dealing with and more about how good it was to find another way of taking control of the situation and getting back my health. So I highly recommend growing your own little healing patch if you can.
Treat Fibroids – Best Time of Day to Exercise

I found the best time of the day to exercise was first thing in the morning. After enjoying a warm cup of water infused with lemon juice, I would go for a brisk walk along a peaceful country road near our home. I would walk for forty-five minutes to an hour. Walking for that amount of time seemed to get better results than walking for just thirty minutes.
Exercising first thing in the morning in a fasted state gave better results. This was because my body did not have glucose from a recent meal to fuel my exercise activity. So it went straight to burning excess fat and the waste products of the uterine fibroids.

I did a lot of stretching exercises each evening. Stretching helps relieve stress which is crucial for a woman who is dealing with fibroid issues. And it helps the body increase flexibility, which is important for enjoying a healthy long life.
These are just a couple types of exercise suggestions. You may find other forms of exercise that you prefer. Don’t feel pressured to do exercise that you are not accustomed to. Listen to your body and go at a pace that you feel comfortable with. With regularity you will find that your stamina will improve day by day.
Healing Can Come Quickly
Improvements came quickly. This holistic way of healing from the fibroids made me so happy and really helped me to overcome any negativity I felt from facing this depressing health issue. It felt so good to know I have greater control of my health conditions through healthy natural living. I felt good to be supported by a health care professional who understood and believed in the power of holistic healing to fix uterine fibroids and encouraged me to do the same. Within the first week I was feeling much better. This inspired me to continue.
Many doctors are quick to suggest an operation to remove uterine fibroids and a woman’s reproductive organs without considering any other options. From my experience, I believe before any operation is suggested a woman should be should be encouraged and fully supported to make any needed lifestyle changes as a first step. It is a much more healthful and effective way to treat uterine fibroids. It really gets to the root of the problem.
Enjoying the Diet to Fix Fibroids
Following the lifestyle to treat uterine fibroids is very different from the normal way of life in many societies. For example eating a mostly raw diet while cleansing can be challenging if you are accustomed to eating animal products and foods with lots of free oils and sugars. I actually enjoyed eating mono fruit meals and one big salad a day. But some people want something a bit more gourmet. If you find this to be true in your case, try finding some great recipes and books that make eating this way enjoyable and tasty to you.
Support to Heal from Uterine Fibroids
If you face this problem in your life, I highly recommend you discuss this option of holistic healing with your doctor before submitting to invasive surgical procedures when diagnosed with uterine fibroids. Do the research to understand what you can do personally to support your body’s ability to heal itself. Really believe in your body’s innate ability to heal itself when given the right conditions.

In addition, find a good naturopath who believes in the power of whole-food plant-based nutrition. They will be able to support you along with your doctor. Add a fitness trainer in to the mix for even more encouragement. You can create your own holistic medical team! Together you can build a program to treat your fibroids in a holistic way. But always remember you are the one who has the most power over your own body. It’s your responsibility and privilege to give your body the best opportunity and greatest potential for a good outcome.
Look at this time of healing as a home based wellness retreat. Take the time to add in some extra rest and pamper time to your daily routine. Doing this will help you feel less stressed about the fibroids. Instead you will feel optimistic and excited as you work on reaching your goal to heal naturally and holistically.
Faith helps us face the future,
Forgiveness helps us forget the past,
Love helps us enjoy the present.
A Final and Important Note:
To maintain the healing results of following this type of protocol, it will be necessary to continue following a primarily whole-food plant-based diet, exercise regularly, and manage stress in healthful ways for the rest of your life. Personally, I feel my best when eating an 80 percent raw/20 percent cooked plant-based diet most days of the week.
As I stated earlier in this post, I had visited the Naturopath for previous ailments in the past and had been able to improve my health. But sadly, over time I went back to some of my old unhealthy ways which led to a new problem, the uterine fibroids. However, by getting back to my holistic way of living and restarting my healthy habits I was able to treat the uterine fibroids and regain my health.
So my encouragement is that we must be resolved to stick with the program in order to heal and continue in good health. That is my goal from this time forward. May it be the same for you.
