Beginning a Plant-Based Diet and living a healthier lifestyle can be likened climbing a mountain. Like seeing a majestic and beautiful mountain that looks out on amazing landscapes. So you think to yourself, “It would be great to climb that mountain and check out that view!”
Additionally, maybe friends have told you how great the view is. So you are enticed to go and check it out for yourself. Nevertheless, you just don’t feel you can make such a big journey.
Well, how did your friends get up there? Did they climb the mountain with one gigantic leap? Of course they didn’t! So how did they make it? They took it one step at a time.
Begin the Journey – Take the First Step!
So you decide to start your journey up the mountain by taking that first step. Then you take another; and another; and another. You are on the journey; and it’s your journey; making it your goal to get to the top of that mountain
and enjoy the wonderful view.
Sometimes the path up the mountain becomes quite
steep. In addition, you might even wonder if you are going to be able to keep climbing; if you are ever going to make it up to the top of this mountain! But you don’t give up; you just keep taking this journey step by step. Of course, you might stop for a little breather, but the main thing is this… you don’t give up.
And then it happens… you come around a bend and you are there! You have made it! What an amazing feeling when you reach the top of the mountain; the view is even better than you could have ever imagined!!! And guess what? Now you can tell others about your journey to climb that mountain! You can also tell them all about how seeing that magnificent view from the top of the mountain
made it all worth it. – And you can also joyfully say… it all began with one step… This illustrates what it’s like beginning a plant-based diet.
Beginning a Plant-Based Diet – Getting Motivated
Starting to eat a Whole-Food Plant-Based Diet and living a healthier lifestyle can be like climbing that mountain. For example, you may hear many people talk about the benefits they experience by choosing to climb the mountain of good health and well being. But the unhealthy dietary and lifestyle habits so common these days exert a strong influence. This can make it seem impossible to live the healthy way. This is because to many people beginning a Plant-Based Diet just seems strange.
So… how do you get motivated, if you feel this way? Decide to start your journey up the mountain to good health and well being on a Whole-Food Plant-Based Diet by focusing on just taking that first step… then take another; and another; and another. Before you know it you will have reached your goal!
A Sample Plan for Starting the Journey to Health & Wellness on a Plant-Based Diet
- Week 1 – Aim to drink a certain amount of water each day.
- Week 2 – Eat a large daily mega-salad with lunch.
- Week 3 – Have a large mono meal of fruit for breakfast.
- Week 4 – Make a green smoothie to enjoy while the evening meal is being prepared.
- Week 5 – Enjoy a bowl of yummy homemade soup and steamed greens for the evening meal.
- Week 6 – Go walking for 15 to 30 minutes each day and go to bed by 9pm.

So, imagine what the view will be like at the end of six weeks. You might just want to stay at the top of this mountain of good health and well being for life.
